Welcome to Sober Pregame

Fund Mental Healthcare is launching a new event series called Sober Pregame, offering a casual alternative to Chicago’s typical night out. The first event takes place Saturday, July 5, from 7 to 9PM at 3447 N Halsted, and is free to attend.

Sober Pregame is designed for anyone looking to ease into the weekend with intention. It’s a space for people who want to be social without the pressure of drinking, with nonalcoholic beverages, music, and space for conversation. Whether you come with a friend or on your own, the vibe is easy, open, and welcoming.

This event is part of a growing cultural shift. In recent years, the nonalcoholic beverage market has taken off — no longer limited to soda or water, but filled with thoughtfully crafted options that taste good and carry none of the consequences. Brands are designing drinks for people who still want to gather, unwind, and enjoy the ritual of a beverage — just without the alcohol.

As we wrote in a previous blog post, this shift isn’t just about consumer choice. It’s about social design. We’re seeing more people rethink what a night out can look like, especially those navigating healing, mental health, or simply seeking more meaningful connection. The growing presence of NA drinks in bars, restaurants, and homes reflects a broader desire for spaces where alcohol isn’t the default — and where opting out doesn’t make you an outsider.

Sober Pregame was created to meet that need. It’s not anti-party — it’s a reimagining. A place to meet new people, reconnect with friends, or just spend a couple hours in a room that doesn’t demand anything from you. There’s no expectation to perform, no loud music to shout over, and no social penalty for leaving early. Just a room, a vibe, and people who get it.
